Jonah R. Horowitz
Hello! My name is Jonah, and I am currently a graduate student in the Department of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I am a member of the Bawendi lab, in which I apply single-particle spectroscopy to understand the optical properties of heavy-metal-free semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots). Our group is looking to develop a better understanding of the basic photophysics of these materials, as well as to assess them from a practical viewpoint for applications in next-generation displays. Beyond just quantum dots, I am also interested in developing new, high-throughput methods to quantify single-particle optical properties with minimal user input.
Before coming to MIT, I was an undergraduate student at Amherst College, where I performed fundamental research on gas-phase intermolecular interactions using rotational spectroscopy. Outside of work, I have fun biking around Boston with my friends, watching old movies, and learning about nature.
